The House

The Location

The Homestead serves Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson(JBER) which is located in Anchorage, AK.

Only a 20 minute drive from base, The Homestead sits on 2.5 acres hidden at the end of a quiet neighborhood with amazing views and plenty of space inside and out. The house is meant to be an easy-to-reach retreat from the every day stresses of military life. From 40 to as many as 70 attend our weekly Friday night meals and Bible Study. Our weekly gathering is often a "base camp" for all sorts of weekend activities.

The Community

The Homestead is so much more that a house, it's a community of airmen, soldiers and families who gather for various base Chapel ministries, our Friday night meal and Bible Study, varied outdoor activities, community service opportunities, and work projects. A melting pot of singles, married couples, airmen, soldiers, civilians, enlisted, officers,  and volunteers.

We understand the difficulty of the military lifestyle. Making new friends and learning how to live in Alaska can be quite the burden. We would love for you to join us out to the house to see what it's all about!

Finding Us

Our Values

AKA The Five F's

We LOVE food at the Hospitality House! Every Friday night at our Weekly Gathering we start off with a home cooked meal. Sometimes we cook with "Alaskan" options like moose, fresh salmon, or caribou for you to try. We think that the dinner table is an important place. In a world where we are constantly distracted, sitting down for a meal produces rest and meaningful discussions that are often not found in the military culture.

Sometimes we stay in and watch a movie and play board games, other times we are sauntering along the high ridges of the Chugach mountains. If you want the Alaskan experience - hiking, skiing, camping, rafting, snowboarding, hunting, sledding, fishing, etc - we ALWAYS have something planned! We also love to explore the local culture; you can find us grabbing coffee in town or seeing the latest blockbuster at the movies. See our calendar for the latest planned events!

Being new is temporary. Good friendships last forever.

Come ready to gain lifelong friendships with people who will offer encouragement as you navigate and grow through your military career.

After a while, those close bonds of friendship develop into something much more. A family of people serving our country from all walks of life. Living in community together, serving one another, and mentoring each other.

Come as you are! We teach from a Christian perspective and offer spiritual guidance and mentorship at your request. Your spiritual life is YOUR journey and we respect that no matter who you are and what you believe.

The Mission

We have many different working pieces that help our community function, grow, and work together. This is how we live out our mission...

The Great Commandment

"You must love the Lord you God with all your heart, and all your soul, and all your mind... love your neighbor as yourself"
-  Matthew 22 : 37 & 39

The Great Commission

Making disciples who make disciples

"... go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you..."
-  Matthew 28 : 19 - 20

Confidently Follow & Lead

Maturing in biblical knowledge, discerning god's voice, and living obediently

"My sheep listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me"
-  John 10 : 27

"Bout you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses..."
  -  Acts 1 : 8

The Staff

Our staff works hand-in-hand with the Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson Chapel and are  also missionaries with Cadence International.
Cadence International is an evangelical mission agency dedicated to reaching the military communities of the United States and of the world with the Good News of Jesus Christ. For five decades, Cadence has grown from a small, fledgling mission to an organization with close to 200 missionaries who work in over 50 locations worldwide. Cadence serves all branches of the U.S. military in American and overseas locations. Comprised of nearly 4 million people, the U.S. military community has proven to be one of the largest, most responsive sub-cultures today. Cadence ministers not only to military personnel, but to their spouses and dependents as well.

The Caudles

As a family we have served with Cadence since August 2004 spending two years raising support and then the next 4 1/2 at Osan AFB in S. Korea. After a year of Home Assignment we moved in August of 2012 to joint base Elmendorf / Fort Richardson (JBER) in Anchorage, Alaska. While here we have transitioned the ministry to a new location and name (now The Homestead) and run or support weekly programs both out of our home and on base. Bob is from Southwest Arkansas and Stephanie from Southern Michigan.
We met and were married in Colorado in 1994 while pursuing our educations. In the eleven years prior to Cadence, Bob worked as a contractor in carpentry and Stephanie as a Consultant for Creative Memories. Both of us were also very involved in ministry at our home church near Jackson, Michigan. We have three children, who have had their own special places in this ministry: Nathan and Sarah are now in college, and Erin is a high school student and works with the children here at the Homestead.
